How Does Ebola Virus get Spread?
Ebola is an acellular viruses which does not replicate through any type of cell division. They use a combination of host and uses virally encoded enzymes with host cell structures to produce a multiple copies of themselves. These self assembles into viral macromolecular structures which has more than 10,000 molecular weight in the host cell. The virus completes a set of steps when infecting each individual cell. Then the virus begins to attack its host receptors which is known as sensory organ through the glycoprotein surface peplomer. Afterward, it is endocytosed into macropinosomes (A large vesicle filled with extracellular fluid) in the host cell. Furthermore, in this case, it is somehow connected to Active Transport because the substances move from low concentration to high concentration by using process of Endocytosis. In this process, it needs ATP (energy) to move virus in to our body.
Ebola viruses have a structure called a glycoprotein, which helps the virus to permeate through healthy human’s broken skin, or mucous membranes. From here, the virus spreads by going into other cells and using endocytosis. Ebola has its own DNA, but it needs help in order to make a copy of that DNA. |
For example, Ebola Virus could effect liver cells, the cells that are in immune system, and endothelial cells, cells that are inside of blood vessels (Picture Below). When the virus enters to our body, the virus enters cells through endocytosis. In this instance, the virus could infect the living organism that has Eukaryotic cells. Specifically, this picture at the left shows how the cell is using endocytosis to let virus permeate. Because Eukaryotic cells have nucleus, comparing to Prokaryotic cells, Ebola could attack them.
Another way that Ebola virus gets spread could be is by blood donation. For example, let's say that person A did not knew he did get infected by Ebola virus. However, when that blood is used to person B, blood that includes Ebola virus will get transported too. In other words, the person B who got the blood from person A will get infected by Ebola virus. |
