Introduction to Research
The main topic of this research project was 'Cellular Effects of Pathogen'; the definition of pathogen is "A bacteria, virus or other microorganism that can cause disease" (define google). My pathogen topic was about Ebola that killed total about 9,000 people until now. 9,000 is a huge number. Because Ebola virus has high contagiousness, it is easy to get spread. During this research, there wasn't any data that I actually measured, but used internet to figure out most of the informations.
Purpose and Motivation to the Project
First of all, the purpose of this project was to show informations about Ebola Virus Disease who are interested, or who are willing to get a job related to medical doctors or pathogen explorers. For the audience, I am trying my best to send this website to our school nurse, or my friends' parents who are doctors. I thought that showing this project to student who are willing to be a medical doctor or pathogen explorers could be hard because I might have to create a survey or ask verbally in order to show this. Also, my project would used more effectively if someone who is interested to pathogen or who has a job of this topic. So I chose our school nurse to present my ideas and informations about Ebola Virus Diseases. There was a specific reason that I really wanted to choose this topic. In 2014, our last day of school, when I asked my parents if I could play with my friends, and I got rejected. The reason was ebola virus was spreaded in small scale. My parents were telling me that because I am the person who lives and stays most with my grandmother, and when I get infected by ebola virus and gets spread to her, it would lead to a dangerous situation. It was one of the reason of my grandmother being old, however, that will lead slow cure. Also she cared about me too. This was the reason why I couldn't play in last day of school. In this project, I wanted to figure out how Ebola virus is strong and dangerous, and prove if my parents decision was correct or incorrect.
Connection to Standards
There were several learning targets in this unit, which they were Prokaryotic VS Eukaryotic, Cell Structures, Structure of the Cell Membrane, Passive Transport and Active Transport. There are lots of detailed information in different sections!
